Good Food Good Life
This is the fact that more than half of the children are malnourished in Sundarbans, thus more prone to diseases and resulting in poor academic performance. Have you ever imagined how a child, people survive with an empty stomach?
The situation has worsened now, the Covid pandemic has destroyed a few lakhs livelihood of children parents, and the devastating cyclone Amphan has already uprooted many families. Thus to bring the ray of hope to these deprived people we have initiated our optimistic project Good Food Good Life. The organically prepared freshly cooked vegetables, hot, healthy, meals provided by us to ensure their health and education of them. How many people starving till their last breath! Come & join us for this noble cause in support of this chronically needy segment of our society who need your kind support to live just on this earth.
Tree Plantation & Green awareness
“The key to a greener planet is in your hand.”
The protection of forests and generating livelihood involving the restoration of green buffer through a scientific and extensive plantation. These frontline green warriors can also participate in rehabilitation-rescue-protection-awareness for saving wildlife and conserving biodiversity. In viewing that team-THCF has taken an initiative to restore the greener, vegetation through the extensive plantation. This unique, as well as critical ecosystem, is being over-exploited. Increasing population leads to negligible availability of land per family. Individual efforts towards this mission may seem like drops in the ocean, but the impacts from the positive changes and participation by millions of people will make significant contributions towards a more climate-friendly Mother Earth.
Menstrual Hygiene
The reasons behind low menstrual hygiene are lack of awareness, information, embarrassment, and most importantly affordability. With schools shutting down because of COVID19, access to sanitary pads has become more challenging than ever because girls usually purchase sanitary pads from their schools (@INR 2.5/pad). They are using and reusing cloth and often resorting to dangerous practices like filling up socks with ash and tying them around their waist in the hope that it will absorb menstrual blood! Such unhygienic practices are causing gynecological ailments, fungal and bacterial infection, and even cervical cancer, all of which claim 1000s of lives each year. The Human Care Foundation is striving to distribute sanitary pads among these very needy female populations in our program. Through this initiative, THCF spreading knowledge and awareness, who are adopting the use of sanitary pads for the first time. To further facilitate adoption, we are providing pads free of cost for the first 3 months.
Digital Education
We are In A Mission to start Digital Education Centers. Now we are running such 1 Centre. Digital and Technical Education is now this era’s demand. We realized that a lot of socio-economically backward children are facing a psychological setback with the sudden shift of education into digital mode after the Covid pandemic. Children cannot afford a smartphone or a laptop and so are bound to depreciate in their learning outcomes or even can drop out of education. Your contribution to this mission shall facilitate such needy children and help them sustain their education and excel too. This initiative will help more than 1300 children continue and complete their education.
Impact of the MIDAS Programme
Impact which we have notice on project activities and attainment of targets and objectives are –
- Our involvement in the program made the women to come forward to form number of SHGs
- They have understood the value of saving
- Regular monthly meetings are attended by the women in good numbers
- Women began to demand for their rights Road, Drinking water, Ration card etc.
- Women are motivated to enter into political field.
- It is observed that women started to come together for a common cause and began to discuss about the issues and problems.
- Women take initiative to go outside of their house and to find solution for their problems.
- Women are now more accepted and their decisions are taken in to consideration to an extent.
- Other changes what we have noticed is that they began to speak and take active part in the discussions.
- 50 women from Khumbhaphal village participated in the women’s Gram Saba, taking the Issue of Drinking water.
- Due to the strengthening of the SHGs women are able to save an amount of Rs 100/- per month.
- Inter lan system had enabled women to start their own small scal business.
- Women are also confident of dealing with the process and procedures of Bank and other related offices.
- The coming together of women made them aware of importance of education thus they began to learn and to attend non formal education.
- When we look at the cultural background of the women the participation of SHGs has helped them a lot to come together & share their knowledge keeping away the cast & creed barriers.
Old Age Care Program
As our parents look after all our needs no matter how old we are, it is our core responsibility to nurture them when they become old and helpless. The unconditional love they shower must be equally shown by their children as well. But the question is, Do they? The answer can never be that simple, as with each individual lies different personalities and consciences. Our observation showed us the variations, from responsible and sensible adolescents to heartless and self-centered ones. In between these crowds, the most heartbreaking are the ones who were left behind, old and shattered, how haunting it must have felt to even imagine their aloneness.
As social workers, we’ve always considered them our own parents, and so we’ve taken the first step and initiated the projects of Old Age Care for hundreds of old people who were either abandoned or completely ignored
by their own children, in other words, keeping in view the disrespect and burden towards the elderly in society, to save them from living a hellish life and suicide, by setting up old age homes and day-care centers and giving them free admission without any discrimination, benefiting them by providing them a worry-free life.
By God’s grace, it’s been a wonderful journey, and we expect to extend this path infinitely.
The Human Care Foundation is a non-profit non-governmental charitable institution operational in Aurangabad district and nearby.
